Influence of Infill Patterns Generated by CAD and FDM 3D Printer on Surface Roughness and Tensile Strength Properties

Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is a capable technology based on wide range of parameters. The goal this study to make comparison between infill pattern and density generated by computer-aided design (CAD) FDM. Grid, triangle, zigzag, concentric patterns with various densities following the same structure FDM machine were designed CAD software (CATIA V5®). Polylactic acid (PLA) material was assigned for both procedures. Surface roughness (SR) tensile strength analysis conducted examine their effects dog-bone samples. Also, finite element (FEA) done specimens find out differences printing simulation processes. Results illustrated that had better surface texture compared while tests showed stronger in terms stiffness. In study, samples lowest average SR (Ra) zigzag worst value 6.27 µm. highest obtained grid These techniques can be useful producing highly complex sandwich structures, bone scaffolds, combined achieve an optimal condition.
